Sales Rep Experience - NuVasive

Streamlining tasks to simplify and take control of your busy day

2019

UX Design Lead

MY ROLE

Lead designer. My tasks included user research, visual and interaction design, and crafting the design and user experience.

BACKGROUND

The sales tool at NuVasive was powerful, but users struggled to find important information easily. Sales Reps needed a simpler way to organize their daily tasks and track their sales performance without dealing with too many menu options.

TEAM

  • Product Manager

  • Software Engineers

  • Leadership

GOALS

  • Elevate the most frequently accessed information

  • Allow Sales Reps to manage their daily tasks in one place

  • Provide easy access to weekly sales plan objectives, CPD events and sales metrics

PROCESS

  1. Research

Interview Sales Reps to understand current work flows and frequent activities. Analyze existing feature usage data.

  2. Design

    Create prototype of the design.

  3. Validation

Test the prototype with users and iterate based on feedback.

RESEARCH FINDINGS

Users found it frustrating to manage their daily tasks because there was too much back and forth in the current app with disconnected features and functionality. They expressed the need for a calendar view to see their daily, weekly and monthly schedule at-a-glance. They also mentioned that their sales metrics and objectives were buried in the app and hard to find.

WIREFRAMES

Using the data collected during the user research sessions, I was able to craft wireframes using Axure Rp.

We then reviewed these with users for feedback.

  • Users wanted less clicks to view daily tasks and the calendar view

  • They wanted to be able to click into a date on the calendar to see the full schedule for that day

  • There should be a way to quickly see what was happening tomorrow

UX DESIGN

Once the wireframes were complete, I created the interactive prototype in Justinmind referencing the NuVasive color palette and Material Design components.

OUTCOME

Due to a company reorganization, the project never went to development. However, through this process I was able to to learn more about our team sales metrics and about data visualization. I was also able reuse many of these components for a future project that detailed user sales metrics and analytics.
